Scariest thing that has happened to me Free Essays
This essay describes my scariest experience in life which happened two years ago in the second year of my graduation term. The Disclosure The local Red Cross society had organized its half yearly blood camp, choosing our college campus as the venue. I had always an inexplicable apprehension in donating blood, never having donated an ounce before. We will write a custom essay sample on Scariest thing that has happened to me or any similar topic only for you Order Now But on that particular occasion, many of my friends donated blood, which created a kind of social pressure on me to participate in the event. On the last day of the camp, I went ahead and enrolled in the list of donors. It was slight pain and a little weakness, which was more imaginary than real, in my perception. A day later and I was feeling fine as ever. Things followed their usual routine for a couple of weeks and one day when I received an envelope from the Red Cross society, I assumed it to be a note of thanks from them. The shock that the content of that note gave me is still etched vividly in my memory. In just one line it stated that my blood could not be accepted for donation as it was found HIV positive. Sweating and trembling I tried to comprehend the meaning of these words as they kept getting in and out of focus Effect and Impact Iââ¬â¢d always thought that ââ¬Ëearth shifting beneath the feetââ¬â¢ is a figure of speech- at that moment I found how true it could be. There was a sudden sense of collapse and devastation around of my world. My career plan, my friends, my family, my life, my dreams, they all were wiped off by that single line. A moment ago I had years and years of time to achieve all that I had planned, and moment later I had been handed my death sentence. The worst part was I did not know whom to seek counsel. I was seeing myself as an anathema and I was sure the moment anyone hears about my state, I would be pronounced as socially dangerous and put into quarantine. The specter of impending death surrounded my vision and its fear impeded my rational and normal approach in life. I stayed up through next couple of nights, unwilling to waste my remaining days or hours in slumber. I tried not to think about it, but surreal images of my last hours, with me alone and forsaken, kept floating before me. They took a more concrete shape in my dreams, which was another reason for my desire to forsake sleep. There was a continuous hammering inside me all the time-a fear that wanted to tear me from within and come out in open. I fought to keep it inside, and hid my mental agony, suffering and torture from even best of my friends and family. Very soon, the idea of suicide started to appeal me. I argued repeatedly with myself on whether I should await the impending doom or shall I take my destiny in my own hands. But for a person like me who had always loved to live life, suicide had only a conceptual appeal. On many occasions, I took a gun in my hand; or leaned out of our 7th floor apartment, contemplating a jump, and found myself unable to do neither. On these occasions, I experience a surge of such pure anger and frustration that I was scared rather than committing suicide, I could murder someone in this state. Unreasonably though a considerable part of my anger was devoted to Red Cross society itself- if they had not organized the blood donation camp, I had never been brought to face this fearsome situation. After Effects Two weeks later, I was visited by a batch-mate who had secured admission in the medical school. She was surprised at the unkempt state of my apartment- I was known to be finicky about cleanliness- and she deduced as much from my demeanor as by my general state that I was holding something within. Once she forced out truth from me, she led me over to the local hospital for a full body check up-including blood and urine culture. She had refused point blank to accept the results of Red Cross and assured me that mistakes could occur in their analysis. The local hospital had to give its report after two days and those days were the tensest and perhaps scariest in my life-scarier than even all the previous weeks which I had spent under shadow of death. It seemed incredible how my fate was being decided in a hospital laboratory some blocks away, and I could not do anything about it. I did not close my eyes for a moment in the two days, swaying between deepest dejection and slightest hope. Two days later when I received the envelope from the hospital enclosing my reports, I could not bring myself to open it and read it. There in my hand was my statement of life or death and I was mortally afraid to take a sneak in it. It was for hours that I kept it clutched in my hands, unable to bring myself to see its content. In the evening my friend visited me again, specifically to know the result of tests. She took the report from me and as she was about to open it, I turned away from, unable to withstand the tension and the probable expression of doom on her face. For several second she did not speak and I felt I would implode-the tension was unbearable for me to withstand. Then she tapped me and said ââ¬Å"Sorry to disappoint you.. but you are as HIV negative as one possibly can be! â⬠How to cite Scariest thing that has happened to me, Papers

Question: Discuss about the Impact of Workplace Factors on Worker Productivity. Answer: Summary of the article The present article published by Ben, Jennifer and Greg focuses on the how workspaces affect the overall performance and productivity of the staff members. As per the article provided, it can be asserted that there is a direct relationship between productivity, innovation and personal interactions between staff members. It can be justified by the example that personal interactions encourage people in the organizations to present their innovative ideas and concepts towards the success of the business enterprise. The leading business such as Yahoo and Facebook also emphasizes promotion more and more personal interactions within the workplace(Waber, Magnolfi Lindsay 2014). The HR manager of Yahoo has stated that the company has got some best and resulted from oriented suggestions from discussions which are generally done in the cafeteria. Examples of different companies have been quoted such as Samsung has the recently unveiled plan for the new U.S headquarters which has been developed in stark contrast to its traditional hierarchical culture. The most effective criteria that are undertaken by firms to measure space design and it can be known whether it is beneficial for the business or not. Apart from this, different strategies are undertaken by businesses for enhancing the performance of workforce such as the proper interaction between the workers, etc. The entire articles focus on the office space where it has been highlighted that office space must not be considered as amortized asset, but it must be regarded as the strategic tool for growth. One of the most effective ways to manage cost per square foot is to remove wasted square feet. The internal space of the office must be designed to reflect how 21st-century digital work actually happens. The overall spaces which are designed by the businesses enhance the likelihood of the collisions for instance, considering the case of call center if the company wants to increase its productivity then in such case internal design must be engaging. The article has highlighted the importance of engagement as it directly enhances the productivity of the business enterprise in every possible manner. It is the first and foremost duty of the manager to develop big social spaces, and they expect great results. Apart from this, goal and objectives of every business enterprise differ from each other, and due to this basic reason, it is required for the business to have the proper understanding in relation with what business is trying to accomplish. Considering the case of call center whose main objective was to involve members present in the team to enhance productivity. So, the pharmacy firm required space to encourage people present within the company so that they can collide with the other people present in the group. The type of interaction taking place within the workplace has the direct influence on the goals associated with the business. Apart from this, enhancing the number of peoples collision is very significant as compared with the individual productivity. Moreover, the internal workplace matters a lot such as the digital workplace that leads to in-person collisions with the communication and file sharing that considers e-mail, chat, etc. LR Ways through with motivational working environment can be developed In the present scenario, workplace motivation has become very important for the overall success of a business enterprise. Nowadays, the competition among companies operating in every sector has become so intense that it is no longer easy to achieve long term goals and objectives. Organizations now lay more emphasis on overall design and development of a workplace which can motivate staff members to give their best towards the accomplishment of organizations success. It has been identified by the research using open communication channels is crucial for developing a motivational workplace(Dickson 2016). Open communication motivates workers to present their views and opinions towards growth and success of a business enterprise. Apart from this, such type of communication channels also promotes knowledge and skill sharing within the workplace. It can be stated that a workplace which does not encourage interactions between employees affects the overall performance and productivity of workers in the negative sense. Further, such workplace also creates obstacles for companies regarding achieving their goals and business objectives. To develop a motivational workplace, it is required by managers to ensure great work done by employees is recognized and appreciated in the best possible manner. The rationale behind this is that recognition and appreciation of work at regular intervals helps in developing the strong sense of satisfaction among employees. In addition to this, the strategy also supports in enhancing the overall motivational and morale level of staff members. To gain respect and recognition from management, employees start giving their best towards the accomplishment of set targets and goals. However, it can be critically argued that managers need to ensure that the recognition and appreciation of employees efforts a re carried out at regular intervals. Apart from this, effective monetary and non-monetary rewards should be offered to make the workplace highly motivated. Apart from this, the management should also encourage employees to take breaks at regular intervals. Nowadays, companys needs to ensure that staff members do not remain burned and pressurized for a long period. A motivational working environment always focuses on providing frequent breaks to employees so that they do not feel exhausted because of excessive workload. On the other hand, trustworthy leadership is another strategy which can be taken into consideration to enhance the overall productivity of people working in the organization. The rationale behind this is that such kind of leadership will develop the strong bond between both employer and employee. A positive and motivational workspace can be developed with the help of implementing trustworthy leadership. Link between personal interaction, innovation and organizational performance It can be stated that personal interaction at the workplace is directly linked with areas such as innovations and organizational performance. Personal interaction between employer and employee helps in dealing with organizational issues in the best possible manner. Team meetings and conferences can be conducted at regular intervals and at the same time, issues faced within workspace can be discussed. The most important benefit of such discussions is that employers are available with the pool of strategies which can be implemented to overcome the challenges and issues faced by a business enterprise. Team meetings and another form of personal interactions encourage staff members to present their views and suggestions which can be beneficial for the organization. Personal interaction is directly associated with innovations because it allows employees to present their creative and innovative ideas in front of management (Rick 2011). The suggestion of staff members can be further used to develop new products, enhance customer services and the degree of customer satisfaction. Personal interaction at workspace is also linked with the overall performance of an organization. It can be stated that businesses which encourage such type of interaction at workspace can deliver satisfactory products and services as compared to the businesses which do not encourage personal interactions. It also results in enhancing the overall degree of job satisfaction and thus results in increased overall performance of an organization. Personal interactions between employer and employee develop a potential platform for resolving the issues and conflicts at work. In the modern era, employee satisfaction and motivation are crucial aspects in making a company successful. Nowadays, businesses develop and implement various types of HR practices and strategies to achieve the higher degree of employee satisfaction. However, it can be critically argued that personal interaction is not an easy task and it is required by entrepreneurs to invest a large amount of energy and resources in carrying out the same. For example, efforts are required to be placed by management to ensure interactions become a day to day activity within the workspace. It can be expressed that having the daily conversation with employees results in developing a strong rapport(Negroni 2014). Along with this, the personal interaction will also provide the management with an opportunity to examine the key strengths and weaknesses of every employee. By information collected, effective strategies can be developed by management to overcome the weakness of employees and maintain their existing strengths. Role that office space plays in enhancing performance of employees Employees that are totally engaged in the business operations do not prefer to change their job. Further, it is a well-known fact that motive of every business is to enhance employee engagement, but on the other hand, it is possible that some workers are not engaged. A small improvement in the engagement level can surely enhance the productivity of the enterprise in every possible manner. Companies are required to focus on workplace design by ensuring that all the necessary things are present that can influence employee engagement. Employees must be provided with the choice to have control over their work and the style they want to adopt for conducting operations. Technology is regarded as one of the most effective elements that provide staff members with high choice and control over where and how to work. Other companies are not focusing on this concept with the fear of data security and lack of cooperation. Enhancing promotion along with the collaboration by different locations should be considered. The internal space of the company must be designed keeping in view different type of collaboration styles(Perryer et al. 2016). Apart from this, it must support different interactions with the help of various working environment that can encourage employees to share their ideas, views, and thoughts. However it can be argued that, providing employees with the areas or space that they actual need leads to more concentration. This is considered to be most significant for staff members that are working in open plan offices. It is one of the stressful situations when employees are not able to take the personal call during the office hours, and no such privacy is present. So, this directly hampers the productivity of the company. Rendering space for the social and informal connections within the workplace is must as through these employees can easily build the strong connection with other individuals. This social space can bring some positive vibes and emotional comfort which is necessary for conducting the overall operations of the business. Allowing employees to move within the workplace with adequate space is also considered to be advantageous for the organization. This leads to rise in the productivity level of the company and acts as the development tool for the enterprise in eve ry possible manner. Therefore, in this way role of office space is most crucial and it plays the most significant role in enhancing the productivity of every employee. The ways to improve employee performance at workplace Management is required to focus on developing and implementing effective strategies which can support in improving the performance of employees at the workplace. High level of performance delivered by workers directly contributes to the success of an organization. Further, the figure of sales and profitability tends to increase when employees start delivering expected and satisfactory performance. One of the best ways through which employees performance at work can be enhanced is of communicating the goals and objectives clearly. It is required by management to emphasize the fact that every employee working in the company is well aware of his/her roles, responsibilities and overall objectives. It helps in making employees aware of the directions in which they are required to place their efforts and organizational resources. Other than this, setting up open communication channels is another strategy which can be adopted by companies to improve the overall performance and productivity of staff members. Open communication channels support organization in lowering down the conflicts and issues at the workplace. These channels also play the vital role in enhancing the overall motivation and morale level of workers. Developing and implementing a culture which eliminates all form of partiality and discrimination is another option which can be used to carry out improvement in the performance delivered by employees. Nowadays, discrimination at work has emerged as one of the biggest management issues which affect the work, motivation, and performance of employees. Discrimination among employees is carried out by factors such as age, gender, background, etc. To enhance the performance of staff members, it is required by management to implement practices which do not promote discrimination or partiality in areas such as promotion, pay, recruitment, and selection. It will help in developing a strong sense of satisfaction among employees and will motivate them to give their best towards the accomplishment of organizations objectives. However, it can be critically argued that many companies do not foc us on identification of workplace factors which are adversely affecting the performance of employees and this is the biggest mistake which employers make these days. Intensive research can be carried out to explore the key factors due to which a particular worker or team is underperforming. Based on the information collected through the research, effective strategies can be developed to deal with the identified issue or challenges. Mini LR A large number of activities are present that allows in enhancing the performance of staff members within the workplace. This has the direct impact on the productivity of the business and leads to favorable results in every possible manner. In case if the internal environment of business is positive and motivational then it has the positive impact on the productivity of the company. The Tempest Bringing It All Together Essay Example For Students
The Tempest Bringing It All Together Essay The Epilogue of the Tempest by William Shakespeare is an excellent-if not the best-example of Shakespeares brilliance. In 20 lines Shakespeare is able to write an excellent ending to his play, while speaking through his characters about Shakespeares own life and career. Even more amazingly, he seemlessly ties the two together. In the context of the story Prosperos monologue makes perfect sense. He has lost his magical power, so his charms are oerthrown, and what strength Prospero haves his own, which is most faint. He is now confined on the Island, for his other choice would be to go to Naples and reclaim his dukedom, but he doesnt want to do that because he has already pardoned the deceiver who took his position many years ago. Prospero then says something a little strange, but it makes sense in the context of the story, he ask us to release him from his bands with the help of your good hands. In other words, clap so that the sails of the boats his friends are riding in will be safely returned and Prospero can be relieved by prayer of the audience. We will write a custom essay on The Tempest Bringing It All Together specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now All of what Prospero has said is very nice cute, but the most interesting part of this monologue is what Shakespeare himself is saying. Now that my charms are all oerthrown, and what strength I haves mine own means, now my plays are over, and its no longer my characters speaking. The Island or stage Shakespeare is on is now bare and it is time for you the audience to release Shakespeare and his actors from this play with the help of your good hands. Shakespeare was not only being released for the performance of the play, he was being release from his career as a playwright. But there are more reasons to clap besides the obvious reason that the play is over, Shakespeare could not allow his final play to be bad, his project was to please. He reiterates this point by saying and my ending is despair unless I be relieved by prayer, or the clapping of the audience and it frees all faults and allows Shakespeare to indulge the clapping and joy of the audience. Finally, after we seperate the two different perspectives, we can step back and see how Shakespeare magically works them together. The first such pun is on the word faint, in the third line. Prospero uses faint to describe his strength, but Shakespeare makes it a pun on the pun he is making! Let me explain, faint means light (amoung other things), which means light hearted, or fun. As if you thought this wasnt confusing enough already, you could put a pun on the pun on the pun! Again, let me explain, faint can also mean hard to see, like the pun on the pun! That might be pushing it a little, though. The thing about Shakespeare is anything is possible. Another, less obvious but more significant double meaning is on the word please on line 13. Prospero is literally saying his goal was to make the people on the Island happy, Shakespeare is saying his goal was to please his audience. Shakespeare was without a doubt is one of the greatest authors of all time, this Epilogue clearly shows u s that.

Use an Example As a Source For Writing a Composition Essay
Use an Example As a Source For Writing a Composition EssayOne of the most important aspects of preparing an essay is to find a good example to examine. I remember going through my friends' essays and writing down the example sentences that they used in their sample essay. This helped me see the pros and cons of certain kinds of sentences. I was always surprised by how good some examples were at helping me understand what I should be doing. In addition, these samples also served as a reference for areas of the essay that I didn't fully understand, and I wanted to work on. When I was writing my own essay, I wasn't nearly as committed to looking at examples in the place where I needed to.When I was studying to write my own essay, I wasn't paying as much attention to the details of my examples as I should have been. I realized this when I re-read all of my essays. This is one of the reasons why it's very important to look for examples when you're composing your own essay. One way to find q uality examples is to use the Internet. There are a lot of websites that will provide you with examples for free, which can be an extremely valuable resource. However, if you're only looking for examples, they won't be enough to give you all the information you need to properly compose an essay.Another way to find examples is to make a list of the reasons why you need to study composition, and then use the examples that pertain to those particular goals. Text Wrapping in Microsoft Word
Text Wrapping in Microsoft Word Text Wrapping in Microsoft Word From corporate logos in press releases to scientific diagrams in research papers, there are many reasons to include images in a Microsoft Word document. But how images fit with surrounding text is important when formatting a document, so you need to understand text wrapping. What Is Text Wrapping in Microsoft Word? Text wrapping refers to how images are positioned in relation to text in a document, allowing you to control how pictures and charts are presented. Your options for this in Microsoft Word are: In Line with Text This option places an image on the same line as surrounding text. The image will thus move as text is added or removed, whereas the other options here mean the image stays in one position while text shifts and ââ¬Ëwrapsââ¬â¢ around it. In-line text wrapping. Square This wraps text around an image on all sides at right angles, as if it had a rectangular box around it. This is the most common form of text wrapping. Square wrapping. Top and Bottom Text wraps above and below the image so it is on its own line. This is most useful for larger images that occupy most of the width of a page. Top and bottom wrapping. Tight This is similar to Square but without the rectangular box, so text wraps around the edges of the image itself. Useful for irregularly shaped images. Tight text wrapping. Through Similar to Tight, but text will also fill any white gaps within the image. Text wrapping through an image. Behind Places an image behind the text, allowing you to add a watermark or background image on a page (although MS Word has a separate watermark option, too, which is easier to use in many cases). An image behind text. In Front of Text Places the picture in front of the text. This can be used to place a circle around some text or to add an arrow to highlight part of a passage. An image in front of text. The best choice will depend on your needs, but Square and Tight work in most cases. As such, these should be your default options. Beware Web Quizzes
Beware Web Quizzes Beware Web Quizzes Beware Web Quizzes By Maeve Maddox Most of us have probably been sucked in by one of the thousands of quizzes that proliferate on the Web as a form of entertainment. My weakness is anything language-related. One that lured me recently has the title ââ¬Å"Can You Pass an 8th Grade Test from 1912?â⬠I should have been suspicious as soon as I saw that the quiz is multiple-choice. In 1912, the multiple-choice test had not yet begun its insidious invasion of the American classroom. Nevertheless, I took the quiz and was brought up short by Question 14: In the sentence ââ¬ËJohn ran over the bridge,ââ¬â¢ parse the word ââ¬Ëbridge.ââ¬â¢ Here are the answer options: a) Singular noun, subject of sentence b) Regular verb, active voice, present tense c) Singular noun, object of sentence d) A structure built to span physical obstacles such as a body of water What, I wondered, is one supposed to do when none of the answers is correct? What do American school children do when presented with a multiple-choice question? Guess, of course. I knew that John is the subject and that ran is the verb. I knew that the fourth choice has nothing to do with parsing, so I clicked on the third choice and was told that I was CORRECT! Hereââ¬â¢s the ââ¬Å"explanationâ⬠of my ââ¬Å"correctâ⬠answer: It is ââ¬Å"Singular noun, object of sentence.â⬠ââ¬Å"Parsingâ⬠used to be a common term in schools. In this case, ââ¬Å"bridgeâ⬠is an [sic] noun, and it is the object on which the action occurs. I tracked down the unaltered 1912 test. This is the source of the ââ¬Å"John ran over the bridgeâ⬠question: Parse all the words in the following sentence: John ran over the bridge. Not a great many years ago, certainly since 1912, parsing was a common term in my own classroom. I learned the value of teaching grammar via parsing when I taught in a private school in London. Students parse a sentence by identifying each word in it according to its part of speech. Younger children simply name the part of speech. Older children state such things as function, gender, case, etc. For example: John- proper noun, subject of ââ¬Å"ranâ⬠ran- verb, third person singular, intransitive over- preposition the- definite article bridge- common noun, object of the preposition ââ¬Å"over.â⬠Web quizzes may be fun, but they can also be a source of misinformation.
